DG Pratap Madireddy urges fire NOC applicants to report issues directly, warns against unsafe practices, and emphasizes transparency in process.
Director General (DG) of Disaster Response and Fire Services Department, Pratap Madireddy, called upon applicants of fire NOC (no objection certificate) to approach him directly, if they face any problems in the issue regarding the same.
Interacting with media persons, here on Sunday, Mr. Pratap said that it has come to his notice that some contractors were offering to fix fire safety equipment temporarily for the purpose of inspection and later removing them after the inspection was over. He advised the public to not fall prey to such unscrupulous persons as the applicants would be the one paying the price for the ‘unsafe buildings’. He also warned that any ‘NOC’ issued for the building would be cancelled.
He also advised them not to fall prey to mediators and end up losing their money. The applicant/builder was free to choose the vendor for the purchase of safety equipment as the department has no ‘preferred vendors’. Officials of the Fire Department have been instructed not to recommend any vendors and contractors.
Inspection officers from other jurisdictions would be sent for inspection of the building for which fire NOC has been applied. The Director General said that the inspection officials need not be given any money, and if they demand any favours, the applicants could inform him on his personal mobile number 9441236448.
Mr. Pratap appealed to the applicants to help him ensure that the issuance of NOC process was done in a transparent manner, without any corruption, harassment and by implementing the fire safety rules in tune with the emerging technologies.
