
'Destroying livelihoods': Jairam Ramesh hits out at PM Modi over amendment to flag code

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Friday hit out at the Centre for amendment to the flag code. He accused the Centre of destroying livelihoods of those who make national flags from khadi.
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Friday lashed out against the Centre over the amendment to the National Flag Code that would allow the manufacture and import of flags made of polyester.
Responding to a tweet by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the national flag, Ramesh said, "They are destroying the livelihood of those who made national flags from khadi."

It was on this day in 1947 that the national flag was adopted.
"He [PM Modi] has been a campaigner for the organisation that took 52 years to hoist the national flag in Nagpur," Jairam Ramesh said in what appears to be a reference to the RSS.
