Communist Party of India (Marxist) protests against LPG price hike, blaming BJP government for hurting working class.
Condemning the recent increase in price of domestic Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) led by Deputy Mayor T. Nagarajan staged a protest at Jaihindpuram here on Tuesday.
They condemned the ₹50 price rise for an LPG refill , terming it a huge blow to the working class people. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, since he came to power, by making such unprecedented moves has severely affected the livelihood of people,” Mr. Nagarajan said.
Even when the price of global crude oil was falling, the BJP government made sure that the benefit did not reach the people at any cost, he said. “Not only the gas cylinder price has been increased but the excise duty on petrol and diesel has also been increased by ₹2. Only the marginalised working class people are going to be affected severely,” he said.
As the central government has not given a clear clarification for the price rise, it should be revoked immediately, he said. The protesters raised slogans against the price rise and BJP government for making such anti-people moves.
