Dems call for firings of Trump-era holdovers in SSA over stimulus check delays

The House Progressive Caucus on Tuesday called for the removal of Trump administration holdover officials they say are responsible for delaying the latest round of stimulus checks to 30 million Americans.
"These Trump appointees are responsible for delaying the delivery of survival checks for 30 million Americans, mostly seniors and people living with disabilities for nearly a month," Progressive Caucus chair Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., said Tuesday. "They refuse to hand over the data to the IRS that they needed to get the checks out for weeks and they stonewalled congressional efforts." "It's an egregious betrayal of their roles, which has harmed millions of people who needed these checks to buy food and put gas in the car."More Related News
