Demand for Khalistan 'a constitutional right', says Himachal AAP leader; kicks up row

The social media chief of Aam Aadmi Party's Himachal Pradesh unit kicked up a controversy by favoring the demand for 'Khalistan' in his Twitter posts.
The Aam Aadmi Party's Himachal Pradesh unit Social Media Chief, Harpreet Singh Bedi, kicked off a controversy by favoring the demand for a separate homeland 'Khalistan' in his posts.
Bedi shared several tweets in support of Khalistan on microblogging site Twitter and then deleted the account. "According to the constitution, Sikh can demand for Khalistan, then how it is wrong if you want to stop this issue, try to change the act otherwise shut the...," one tweet read.
The AAP leader also shared pictures of the currency of the 'Republic of Khalistan'.
The Mandi-based AAP leader, who claimed to be the social media chief of the AAP unit, deleted his Twitter account after he was criticised for supporting Khalistan.
The AAP state unit has clarified that the views of Harpreet Singh Bedi were against the party's ideology. He has since been expelled.
This is the first time that a demand for Khalistan has come from Himachal Pradesh. There are allegations that Harpreet Singh Bedi has been a Khakistani sympathiser for nearly a decade.
Meanwhile, the ruling BJP in a statement has demanded an apology from AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal. A statement issued by BJP's General Secretary Trilok Jamwal and other leaders, said: "AAP's anti-national agenda has been exposed once again. Anti-national forces not only raising the head in Punjab but the impact is also being felt in Himachal."
