Delhi weather update: Mercury to touch 41 degrees Celsius today, light rain likely on Tuesday

The maximum temperature is likely to touch 41 degrees Celsius in Delhi on Sunday. According to the weather department, light rainfall has been predicted for the national capital on Tuesday.

There seems to be no relief for people of Delhi from the scorching heat as the maximum temperature crossed 41 degrees Celsius at several weather stations on Saturday. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the national capital is likely to witness partly cloudy skies on Sunday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle at 41 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Very light rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds is likely to begin from Tuesday, the MeT said. On Saturday, several weather stations in Delhi saw the mercury breaching 41 degrees Celsius. At Safdarjung, which is Delhi's base station, the maximum temperature rose to 40.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

The MeT said that the temperature is likely to come down from Monday onwards due to clouding and drizzling.

The weather office predicted partly cloudy skies for the day with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 41 degrees Celsius. The mercury may dip to 38 degrees Celsius on Monday due to thundery development.

The weather office has predicted very light rain on June 28 and 29 and has sounded a yellow alert for the national capital for June 29 to July 2 as light showers are expected.

The maximum temperature may plunge below 40 degrees Celsius after June 29, bringing some relief.
