Delhi wakes up to light rain, orange alert issued for 19 MP districts

The weather department has predicted light rain for Delhi and NCR while an orange alert has been issued in 19 districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Delhi and adjoining areas witnessed light rainfall in the morning which is expected to continue through the day as predicted by the weather department. An 'orange' alert for rain and thundershowers accompanied by lightning and hail has also been issued for 19 districts of Madhya Pradesh.
The orange alert is for Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Datia, Ashok Nagar, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Raltam, Rajgarh, Agar Malwa, Vidisha, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Niwari, Damoh and Sagar districts, he said.
The IMD tweeted, "Light intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh) Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Narwana."

Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in Delhi during the next 24 hours as "There will be partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain or drizzle towards evening on Friday. There will be shallow fog in the morning," an IMD bulletin said on Friday.
Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remained in the 'very poor' category, with overall AQI at 342 as per System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR)-India on Saturday.
The IMD has predicted that the minimum temperatures are also likely to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius over northwest India during the next three to four days.
