Delhi Police solves blind murder case within 24 hours with help of CCTV cameras

With the help of footage from 26 CCTV cameras, the Delhi Police solved a blind murder case within 24 hours.
The Delhi Police worked out a blind murder case and arrested the accused involved in the offence. A team from Police Station Sadar Bazar recovered the knife used in the commission of the offence, robbed Rs 8,280 and clothes worn by the accused at the time of the offence.
On March14, at 01.40 am, information regarding the murder of a young boy near Al Quresh Masjid was received at Police station Sadar Bazar. Immediately, the police arrived at the spot and found a dead body. The deceased was identified as Rohaan, a resident of Kishanganj, Bihar. Strangulation marks and stab injuries were found on his body. On local enquiry it was revealed that the deceased used to work as a momos seller, and ten other persons were also residing with him in a room. However, no eyewitness to the crime was available.

Five police teams were constituted under the supervision of KL Yadav, SHO Sadar Bazar. As many as 26 CCTV cameras were identified and analysed, leading to the location of occurrence.

On analysis of CCTV footage, it is revealed that one suspect entered the building at about 06.00 pm and remained in there for about five minutes. The same suspect again entered the building at about 07.00 pm and came out of the building after 34 minutes. The footage was shared with secret informers and shown to the occupants of the building, but no one was able to identify the suspect. The said footage was shared with the members of RWA, MVA and local residents. Finally, the suspect was identified as Noor Mohd. Immediately, raids were conducted, and he was nabbed.
