Delhi police busts cattle slaughtering gang; five arrested after gunfight

Delhi Police busted a cattle slaughtering gang and arrested five members of a gang after a brief exchange of fire. During the scuffle, one sub-inspector was attacked with a knife.
At least five people have been arrested by the Delhi Police for their alleged involvement in cattle theft and illegal slaughter. The five accused have been identified as Chand alias Arshad, Arkam, Naseem alias Ayan, Anas and Ahmad Gufran.
One sub-inspector was attacked with a knife during the scuffle between the cops and the criminals. The gang allegedly lifted three cows from Shastri Park, Seelampur and Gokalpuri on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday and slaughtered them in the national capital. The accused disclosed that they used to sell the meat of one cattle for approximately Rs 20,000.
In February, a call was received at the Anand Vihar police station regarding theft of a cow from the CBD ground near Majar on March 15, after which a case was registered under the relevant sections of the law.
Police received a tip-off that a gang of cow slaughterers might come under the jurisdiction of Shahdara district on the intervening night of April 10 and 11. The police laid a trap at a specified location and noticed a Honda car moving at a very high speed.
When police tried to stop the car, they tried to flee from the spot and fled. Police then chased the car for a long distance before intercepting the vehicle.
One of the accused persons tried to fire on the police team from a country-made pistol but missed. The team tried to overpower the accused people but one of them attacked one sub-inspector with a knife due to which he sustained an injury to his right hand. After a scuffle, the team overpowered all the accused people.
The accused disclosed that they had committed similar offences in trans Yamuna area and also in Anand Vihar, Gazipur, Mayur Vihar and other areas of North East District.
