Delhi Police asks ED to launch probe against Jahangirpuri violence prime accused Ansar
India Today
The Delhi Police asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to launch a probe against Ansar, the prime accused in the Jahangirpuri violence case.
The Delhi Police sent a letter to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking a probe against Ansar, the prime accused in the Jahangirpuri violence case, officials said.
In the letter, the Delhi Police requested the financial probe agency to initiate an investigation against Ansar under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Sources said the ED is going through the documents submitted by the Delhi Police in connection with Ansar and his role in the Jahangirpuri violence case.
The ED will initiate the probe if they find that Ansar received funds -- which were used in the Jahangirpuri riots and violence -- from any organisation or a person.
The officials are also going through the bank accounts and property details of Ansar, sources said.
Mohammed Ansar, according to investigators, is the main conspirator in the Jahangirpuri violence case. He even has past criminal records.
On the instructions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Delhi Police slapped the National Security Act (NSA) against Ansar and four others for their alleged role in the violence.
