Delhi Police arrests 20-year-old student for recording nude videos to extort money

A 20-year-old BSC student was arrested by Delhi Police for his alleged involvement in sextortion. The accused used to create fake Facebook profiles and extorted money after recording nude videos of people.
The Cyber Cell of South West Delhi Police arrested a 20-year-old BSC student for his alleged involvement in sextortion. The accused has been identified as Afsar Khan, a resident of Alwar in Rajasthan.
The accused allegedly created fake Facebook IDs to befriend innocent people and extorted money after recording their nude videos. Police also recovered a mobile phone used in the crime from the possession of the accused.
On March 5, 2022, a complaint was filed by Amit Kumar at the Cyber cell that he got a friend request from a Facebook ID under the name Anjali Sharma. The victim in his complaint alleged that the accused recorded his nude videos while talking to him through messenger. After recording the video, the accused sent the videos to the complainant through two unknown WhatsApp numbers.
The complainant said that he received calls from unknown numbers and he was threatened to pay Rs 20,000. He said that the accused blackmailed him to circulate his video to his relatives and on social media if he failed to pay the amount. The accused allegedly extorted Rs 1,000 from the complainant through Gpay.
A case was filed at the Cyber cell police station and an investigation into the matter was launched. On the basis of technical surveillance, the accused was arrested who was involved in the crime. On intensive interrogation, the accused disclosed that he has been involved in the crime of sextortion for one year. Three victims have been identified and police are trying to establish the identity of the remaining victims.
