Delhi: Man booked for smuggling gold worth Rs 51 lakh at IGI airport

One Indian passenger was booked at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, for smuggling gold worth Rs 51.85 lakh on May 30. The accused has been arrested under the Customs Act.
The Customs officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi have booked an Indian passenger returning from Muscat for smuggling of gold worth Rs 51.85 lakh on May 30.
The passenger had arrived at the IGI Airport, New Delhi from Muscat by Flight No. Al 974 last week,
He was intercepted by the officials after he had crossed the green channel and was approaching the exit gate.
Upon detailed search of the passenger, gold worth Rs 51.85 lakh was recovered from his possession. The gold was concealed in two packets and has been seized under section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. The passenger has been placed under arrest under section 104 of the Customs Act, 1962.
