An interstate drug peddler was nabbed with 109.7 kgs ganga worth Rs 1.02 crore. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a vehicle in Mahilapur and recovered drugs packed in fifty-one small cartoons.

The South Delhi police nabbed a 55-year-old interstate drug peddler with 109.7 kgs of ganja (Cannabis) worth Rs 1.2 crore in Mahipalpur. The accused has been identified as Ishwar Singh, a resident of Uttam Nagar who supplied drugs to the Delhi-NCR region as part of the drug syndicate. The accused had jumped parole and was a proclaimed offender in a similar case of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Acting on a tip-off, the Vasant Kunj police laid a net to arrest the accused at Andheria Mor in Mahipalpur. Police received information that a huge consignment of drugs or country-made weapons was expected to enter Delhi.
The team signalled a white-coloured Maruti Suzuki car bearing the National flag and 'Government of India' written on the bonnet of the car. The police intercepted the vehicle and apprehended Ishwar Singh even as he tried to escape the spot by misleading the police personnel.
The accused claimed that the car belonged to the government and got arrested. Police recovered 109.7 kgs of ganja packed in fifty-one small cartoons from the vehicle.
The accused also changed his physical features and kept a long beard with a turban to give an impression that he belongs to the Sikh community.He was also carrying a fake driving license with the pseudo name of Happy Singh allegedly issued by the Motor Licensing Authority, Punjab.
The accused told the police he was transporting drugs from Orissa to the Delhi-NCR region.
