Heatwaves are set to make a comeback in Delhi and the maximum temperature is expected to reach 45 degrees Celsius again by Sunday.
After experiencing a brief respite last week, the temperature has started to rise in Delhi. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 45 degrees Celsius again by Sunday in the national capital.
However, under the effect of Cyclone Asani, the mercury level dipped at some weather stations on Monday compared with a day earlier.
While its impact will be seen on Tuesday as well, the temperature is still expected to touch 44 degrees Celsius.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature at Safdurjung was 40 degrees Celsius, 41.4 degrees Celsius in Najafgarh and 41.1 degrees Celsius in Jafarpur on Monday.
The mercury reached 37.5 degrees Celsius in SPS Mayur Vihar and around 39 degrees Celsius in Lodhi Road.
The minimum temperature on Monday settled at 27.6 degrees Celsius, while the relative humidity oscillated between 69 per cent and 39 per cent.
According to the weather department, the temperature is expected to rise on May 11 and 12. However, under the influence of Cyclone Asani, Delhi may experience strong winds on May 13.
