A petition was filed by an ex-UP Police top cop over gross violation of Covid-19 restrictions by political parties during their campaigns in their respective states.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the Election Commission of India as well as the Centre, seeking a response from both on a petition filed by the former director-general of Uttar Pradesh Police, asking to make the wearing of masks and social distancing compulsory during the ongoing election campaigns in various states. The petition filed by Vikram Singh says poll campaigns in different states are happening with little or no regard for Covid-19 norms. He further stated that where on one side, strict action was being made against the common man for violation of Covid norms, politicians conducting rallies, however, were given a free run with no consequences whatsoever.More Related News
