Presenting a 'Rozgar Budget' of Rs 75,800 cr budget, the Delhi government aims to create 2 million jobs in five years.
On Saturday, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia presented a 'Rozgar Budget' in the Assembly, with a budget of Rs 75,800 crore for the financial year 2022-23. It aims to create 2 million jobs in five years by establishing an electronic city and promoting the national capital's night economy, retail, and wholesale markets.
The budget for the upcoming financial year is Rs 69,000 crore, which is 9.86% greater than the previous year, according to Sisodia, who also stated that Delhi's economy is gradually recovering from the impact of Covid-19.
The education department has been allocated Rs 16,278 crore by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration.
"The Rozgar Budget will take the economy of Delhi on the path of progress and generate lakhs of employment opportunities," he asserted.
"In the next one or two years, state governments will also learn from this (Rozgar Budget) on how both government and private sectors can provide opportunities for people," Sisodia said during his budget speech.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal praised his deputy for submitting a budget that "cared for" every segment of society.
"Many congratulations to Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia for presenting the 'Rozgar Budget' for Delhi," he said in a tweet in Hindi.
