India Today
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the state government does not want to shut schools while calling for a uniform evaluation mechanism.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish told India Today that the state government is not in favour of further disruption in children’s studies and that their aim is to continue education while also ensuring the safety of students. He also made it clear that the government will not shut schools across the state and will instead, temporarily cordon off the area where someone is found infected with Covid-19.
He said, “Right now our aim is to keep the studies going and also ensure the safety of students and teachers.”
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia went on to say, “It is in everyone's interest that schools should remain open and we have made these guidelines so that if any teacher or student is found to be positive for Covid-19, then we should close that class or wing and work.”
He added that if there is a greater impact in any school, then that particular school could be closed, but it will not be applicable in entire Delhi.
Speaking on the issue of having away centres, Delhi Deputy CM said, “In Term-1 of the board examinations, an option was given that the schools which are able of encryption should keep home centers, and some private schools have chosen home centres. However, many government schools and private schools did not choose a home center.”
“I don't think there is a need to change any such decision right now because everything is going well now and if no major incident occurs, then CBSE should continue with this decision, ” said Manish Sisodia, clarifying his stand.
Further explaining his stand, he said, “The staff of the school is responsible, their teachers are also responsible. There is bound to be a fear of Covid-19 in the minds of children and many children want to have their home center for many reasons, but in view of Covid-19, we do not seem to have to change this decision.”
