Residents of Delhi will soon be able to register for Delhi's free electricity scheme by just giving a missed call on a number issued by the government.
The Delhi government will soon issue a phone number that will allow residents to choose whether or not they want to keep availing the free electricity scheme from October 1.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who holds the power portfolio, chaired a meeting on Saturday with senior officials of the power department, distributing companies (discom) and other departments concerned. The agenda of the meeting was to simplify the process of opting-in and opting-out of the power subsidy offered by the Delhi Government.
Using the phone number issued by the government, consumers can drop a missed call or WhatsApp to register their choice for the power subsidy. According to Sisodia, Delhiites will also have the convenience of opting in through a QR code on the bill or by visiting the discom centre, besides filling out a form attached to the bill.
