Delhi Customs officials seize foreign notes worth over Rs 41.8 lakhs from Indian travelling to Dubai

Customs officials at Delhi international airport arrested a passenger and seized over Rs 41.8 lakhs in foreign currency. A total of $52,900 was recovered, and the passenger was arrested under sections of the Customs Act, 1962.
Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, seized foreign currency worth over Rs 41.8 lakhs on Thursday, August 4, from an Indian passenger who was about to depart for Dubai.
The passenger was intending to fly to Dubai from New Delhi on flight number IX-141 on Thursday. Based on suspicion, the passenger was offloaded and upon an extensive search of his person and baggage, the foreign notes were recovered from one of the accused’s bags.
A total of $52,900 was seized under section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962 and the accused was arrested under section 104 of the same act.
