Delhi: Cab, auto drivers stage protest at Jantar Mantar against rising CNG prices

A number of taxi and auto drivers in Delhi staged a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar on Friday against a steep hike in CNG prices and demanded revision of fares.
Owing to the steep hike in CNG prices, a number of taxi and auto drivers of Ola and Uber staged a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar on Friday and demanded revision of fares.
Protestors said that the way the prices of petroleum products are increasing, it has become difficult for them to drive public and private vehicles.
"Prices of CNG are nearing Rs 70 per kg but we are still plying our cabs and autos on old fares. So now it has become tough for us to operate with skyrocketing CNG prices. We need fare revision which has been pending for the last 7-8 years. If fares cannot be revised, then rates of CNG should be reduced", President of 'Sarvodaya Drivers Welfare Association' Ravi Rathor told PTI.
After two consecutive days of hikes, CNG in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi costs Rs 69.11 per kg. CNG rates were hiked by Rs 2.5 per kilogram on Thursday, April 7.
Meanwhile, the price has risen by Rs 13.1 per kg in the last month.
