Two men have been arrested for allegedly impersonating train ticket checkers (TTE) and cheating travellers of their belongings on the pretext of confirming their train reservations.
Delhi Police has arrested two men for allegedly impersonating train ticket checkers (TTE) and cheating travellers of their belongings on the pretext of providing them with confirmed train tickets.
The matter came to light on June 18, when a complaint identified as Ranveer Kumar, a resident of Bihar's Samastipur, approached police alleging that he had been cheated by the accused in the name of confirming his railway tickets.
He in his complaint stated that it was when he, along with his brother-in-law, was travelling on a metro train from Jahangirpuri to New Delhi railway station to board a train for Bihar that two men befriended them projecting themselves as fellow travellers.
Promising a confirmed train ticket, the accused then introduced the victim to another person claiming to be a TTE in Indian Railways. Instilling a fear of loot, the accused then collected all their valuable items including ATM cards, gold rings and mobile phones and fled the spot.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim, a case was registered and an investigation was taken up into the matter.
After a detailed probe, police managed to arrest one of the accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Ghaziabad on June 19. On sustained interrogation, he confessed to his crime and disclosed about his associates.
Subsequently, a raid was conducted and his associate Kamlesh was arrested from Shakarpur, Delhi on June 21. ATM card, gold ring and mobile phone cheated from the victim were recovered from his possession.
