Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said that he was deeply distressed over the death of a protester during police firing in Rambukkana on Tuesday. Police reportedly had to resort to using live rounds as the crowd was about to set a tanker carrying fuel on fire.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa, has said that he was extremely distressed over the death of a protester due to police firing in Rambukkana.
Police opened fire on protesters in Rambukkana on Tuesday after they were about to set a tanker lorry carrying fuel on fire. As a result, one person was killed, while 12 others were injured.

Protesters have taken to the streets for the second week against the massive increase in the price of essential commodities, fuel shortages and blackouts.
