The court suggested that some inmates from over-congested prisons could be sent to the Paithan open jail where they can be asked to look after cattle and work in fields.
The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court has suggested that the Maharashtra government should transfer some prisoners from overcrowded jails and send them to the Paithan open prison where they should be asked to rear cattle and work in agricultural fields. A division bench of Justice Ravindra V Ghuge and Justice Balchandra U Debadwar said this while hearing writ petitions filed by inmates of Paithan open prison seeking emergency parole. The bench granted emergency leave from prison to eight of the nine inmates who had approached the court. The lone remaining prisoner was denied parole because he had been out on parole recently.More Related News
