Located at the AR wing office of the district police, the facility gets modern equipment
More than a decade-old defunct old gymnasium in the Armed Reserve (AR) wing office of the district police in Tiruvannamalai has been given a facelift with facilities, including modern equipment and air-conditioner.
Accompanied by A. Pavan Kumar Reddy, SP (Tiruvannamalai), Collector B. Murugesh on Wednesday inaugurated the renovated facility, which is aimed at benefiting police officers and their families within the premises. “It will function round-the-clock as some policemen will be on duty. They can also spend their time in the facility, which is for everyone,” said Mr. Reddy.
Originally, the facility was a leisure room for police trainees, mainly constables, after they complete their routine physical training and parade.
A few gym equipment were kept in the room to allow interested persons to workout. With an increase in the usage of few gym equipment by police personnel, the SP decided to renovate the facility with new equipment. After a month-long work, the facility was refurbished at ₹2 lakh.
