Ryan Reynolds shares an update on Deadpool 3. Hugh Jackman will be returning as Wolverine in the movie.
Ryan Reynolds on Tuesday confirmed Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine in the third Deadpool movie. The movie will be the first to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The release date for the same was also announced in a hilarious video shared by Ryan Reynolds on social media. This will mark both Ryan and Hugh's debut in the MCU after Disney took over the studio a couple of years back.
In a tweet, Ryan shares, "Hard keeping my mouth sewn shut about this one." He was referring to the character's first appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He then hilariously discussed how he feels Deadpool should be introduced to the MCU and said, "I’ve really had to search my soul on this one." While he engages us in tongue-in-cheek humor, a man walks across the frame and Ryan calls out to him saying, "Hey Hugh, want to play Wolverine one more time?” Jackman replies, “Yeah, sure, Ryan.”
The logo for the film then appears, also referring to the return of Wolverine. The film has been slated for release on September 6, 2024, as per the announcement. Hugh will return as Wolverine after publicly retiring from playing the superhero in the 2017 film Logan.
Deadpool 3 will be directed by Shawn Levy, who previously worked with Reynolds on The Adam Project.
