IPL 2022, DC vs RR: Kevin Pietersen called out the manner in which Rishabh Pant and Pravin Amre reacted to the ‘no-ball’ decision from the on-field umpires during a tense last over in the pulsating contest between Delhi and Rajasthan in Mumbai on Friday.
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen tore into Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant and assistant coach Pravin Amre for paving the way to ugly scenes for a no-ball that was not given during a tense final over finish against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday.
Kevin Pietersen called out the actions of Pant and Amre as the captain and support staff members seemingly called the two batters out in the middle before Amre stormed onto the pitch to protest the on-field umpire’s call.
In a turn of events that shocked quite a few watching Match 33 of IPL 2022, the Delhi Capitals dug-out created a furore over a no-ball that was not given by on-field umpires Nitin Menon and Nikhil Patwardhan in the final over of a pulsating contest.
Needing 36 runs in the final over to pull off a stunning chase of 223, Delhi Capitals batter Rovman Powell hit Rajasthan Royals pacer Obed McCoy for 3 sixes on the trot. However, the 3rd six came off a delivery that was seemingly a waist-high no-ball.
PANT MIFFED
Right after sending the delivery into the stands, Powell signalled to the umpire to check for a waist-high no-ball. Even the likes of Pant, David Warner and Shane Watson from the dug-out were baffled at the call and signalled a no-ball.
However, the on-field umpires stood by their decision and did not even consult the third umpire.
