Chasing a below-par 138 for victory, Delhi rode on Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith's calculated knocks to reach the target in 19.1 overs at the Chepauk, where they hadn't won a match since IPL 2010. DC's third win this season helped them move up to second position on the IPL 2021 points table. This was also Delhi's first win over Mumbai since March, 2019, as they had lost all 4 games against the eventual champions in IPL 2020, including the final in Dubai.
