One person was seriously hurt in a "targeted" shooting at a busy intersection in Langley Thursday morning, according to authorities.
Police say they were called to the scene at Fraser Highway and 216th Street around 8:30 after receiving multiple reports of shots fired. Police performed first aid until paramedics arrived and transported the victim to hospital.
"This location, especially at this time of day, is very busy with both foot and vehicle traffic," Langley RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Craig van Herk said in a statement.
"Although the investigation is in its very early stages, this appears to be a targeted incident with no other reported injuries. Police believe there is no ongoing risk to public safety in the area."
A vehicle fire was reported to police about 15 minutes after the shooting, the statement added, saying the two incidents are believed to be related.
