
Day after election to Rajya Sabha, Sarbananda Sonowal resgins from Assam Assembly

Former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal submitted his resignation as an MLA a day after he was elected to the Rajya Sabha.
A day after being elected to the Rajya Sabha, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday resigned as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
Sarbananda Sonowal, who was elected to the Assam Assembly from Majuli constituency, submitted his resignation letter to Speaker Biswajit Daimary. It is interesting to note that Sonowal filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha from the seat that had fallen vacant after Biswajit Daimary resigned from the Upper House to contest in the Assam polls this year.
