Dates festival concludes today at Souq Waqif

The 6th Local Dates Festival will conclude today at Souq Waqif. The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), in a statement, stated, “We would like to invite you to visit the 6th Local Rutab Festival, which will be held at Souq Waqif from 4pm until 10pm.
The festival will conclude today (July 30).” The festival, which opened on July 15, has recorded over 100 tonnes of dates sold so far. Over 80 farms are participating in this year’s event, organised by the MME, in collaboration with Souq Waqif Administration. The Ministry said that the dates production for this year would reach 27,000 tonnes, achieving a 76 percent rate of self-sufficiency. It said that Qatar’s palm tree reserve is estimated at 650,000 to 700,000 spanning 2.2 hectares
