Dalit community alleges discrimination in Bengal village, says not allowed to enter temple

The Dalit community in Goghat village of Hooghly district in West Bengal alleged that they were not allowed to enter temples and participate in rituals.
As Bengalis celebrated the beginning of their new year on Thursday, there wasn't much enthusiasm among the Dalit community in Goghat village of Arambag subdivision in Hooghly district of West Bengal. The community alleged that they were looked upon with "disdain". They said like any other community, they also contribute to donations for various rituals. However, they are not allowed to participate in those rituals. They also alleged that women from the community were not allowed to enter temples during 'Neel Shashti puja' on Tuesday.More Related News
