Cyclone Fengal: Holiday for schools and colleges; Madras University exams postponed

Cyclone Fengal causes torrential downpour, leading to evacuations and school closures in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.
After making landfall near Puducherry on November 30, Cyclone Fengal weakened on Sunday (December 1, 2024), but torrential downpour under its influence paralysed the Union Territory and other places in Tamil Nadu, with the Army stepping in to evacuate stranded persons in inundated streets.
The Puducherry government has declared holiday for all schools and colleges in the Union Territory on Monday (December 2, 2024).
Cuddalore and Villupuram districts have also declared holiday for schools and colleges.
The Tamil Nadu government had declared holiday for schools alone in Vellore and Ranipet due to incessant rains.
Tiruvannamalai and Tirupattur districts have also declared holiday for schools alone. Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem districts have also declared holiday for schools alone on Monday (December 2, 2024).
The Controller of Examination of Madras Univeristy has said it has postponed the examination to be conducted on Monday (December 2, 2024). The revised date will be informed later.
