Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh have teamed up for the first time for Cuttputlli. Bankrolled by Jackky Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment, the film releases on Disney+ Hotstar on September 2. The trailer of the film was unveiled today at a press conference held in Mumbai. Since Rakul is starring in her boyfriend Jackky Bhagnani’s production banner, the actress shared that the film didn’t come to her via the former, but director Ranjit M Tewari instead.
Rakul Preet Singh and Akshay Kumar play the leads in upcoming thriller, Cuttputlli. During a press conference held in Mumbai, Rakul shared if the film was offered to her via her boyfriend, Jackky Bhagnani. For the unaware, the film is produced by the actor’s production banner, Pooja Entertainment.
Rakul said, “Mujhe ye film director [Ranjit M Tewari] ke taraf se aayi thi and Jackky [Bhagnani] ko baad mein pata chala tha ki meri baat hui hain film ke baare mein. Jo adaptation hain, jis tarah se role hain, jo kahani hain, wo bohot pasand aayi thi. It was more or less an instant yes because mujhe Akshay Sir ke saath bhi kaam karna tha. That was one of my biggest dreams to work with him.” (Loosely translated as: The film was offered to me by director Ranjit M Tewari and Jackky got to know about the development only later. I like the role and the adaptation. It was more or less an instant yes because I wanted to work with Akshay Kumar.)
The trailer of Cuttputlli was unveiled on August 20. The actor returns as a cop in this thriller where he is on mission to nab a psycho killer in Kasauli.

Cuttputlli is the official remake of the 2018 Tamil film Ratsasan, which starred Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul in the lead. The Hindi version stars Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh. Bankrolled by Pooja Entertainment, the film will release on Disney+ Hotstar on September 2.
