CT lawmaker's saucy pizza proclamation causes outcry in top pie outposts: 'There's only one original'

Several lawmakers from top pizza destinations around the country reacted Tuesday after a Connecticut congresswoman officially declared New Haven to be America's pizza capital.

DeLauro said New Haven-style "Apizza," as it is called, is a "specially crafted food that draws people from across the country to my hometown of New Haven, Connecticut." He joined Fox News in 2013 as a writer and production assistant.
"It is called ‘Apizza’ after the original way ‘la pizza’ was pronounced in southern Italy," she added of the pie, which is a Neapolitan, thin-crust variety. Charles covers media, politics and culture for Fox News Digital.
