Prithvi Shaw, who missed Delhi Capitals's game against SunRisers Hyderabad on Thursday, said on Sunday that he has been hospitalised due to fever. DC are set to face Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2022 match on Sunday, May 8.
Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw on Sunday said he has been admitted to a hospital due to fever, explaining the reason behind his absence from the Delhi Capitals set-up in the recent past in IPL 2022. Shaw shared a photo from the hospital, saying he is hopeful of coming back soon.
Prithvi Shaw had missed Delhi Capitals's previous IPL 2022 match against SunRisers Hyderabad on Thursday, May 5. Shaw was not part of the XI but captain Rishabh Pant did not reveal why the young opener missed the match. Shaw last played against Lucknow Super Giants on May 1.
Mandeep Singh opened in place of Prithvi Shaw, partnering David Warner, who hit a match-winning 94 not out against his former franchise.
"Admitted in hospital and recovering from fever. Thank you for all your good wishes, will be back in action soon," Shaw said in an Instagram story on Sunday.
Prithvi Shaw's post comes hours after Delhi Capitals players went into isolation after another Covid-19 scare in their camp on Sunday. It was the second time the members of the DC team were forced to go into isolation after it emerged that a net bowler tested positive for Covid-19.
It is the second time during the IPL 2022 that the Delhi team has been forced into isolation.
Earlier in the season, six members of the franchise including physio Patrick Farhart, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, keeper-batter Tim Seifert and three other non-playing members had tested positive for the virus.
