BRS leader Harish Rao accuses Congress government of betraying farmers with unfulfilled promises, ready for open debate.
HYDERABAD
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister T. Harish Rao has alleged that the Congress government has betrayed the farming community completely as it has failed to implement any of the promises made to them fully whether it is ₹2 lakh per farmer crop loan waiver or Rythu Bharosa at ₹15,000 per acre and extending it to tenant farmers.
Speaking to newspersons at Siddipet on Sunday, he said he was ready for an open debate on the issue anywhere as after promising ₹15,000 per acre it had decided to give only ₹6,000 per acre (for the Rabi season) by evading ₹9,000 per acre — ₹7,500 per acre pertaining to Kharif season and ₹1,500 per acre for the Rabi season.
Similarly, in case of the Rythu Bharosa to farmworkers, the government was planning to pay ₹12,000 a year only to 10 lakh farmhands against about one-crore enrolled as per the MGNREGS rolls. In the case of crop loan waiver, he said it remained incomplete even one year after the Congress came to power.
Mr. Harish Rao pointed out that the government had also failed to keep the promise of providing free crop insurance cover to at least 10 crops.
As the Home Minister, the Chief Minister had encouraged attacks on the houses of Padi Kaushik Reddy and Allu Arjun and now he had provoked the Congress goons to attack the BRS office in Bhongir, Mr. Harish Rao alleged. He observed that the crime rate in the State was on the rise as the government was utilising the police force to target only BRS leaders.
