
Creating safe passage for Indian nationals in Ukraine, says Russian ambassador-designate to India

Russian ambassador-designate to India Denis Alipov stated that Russia is working to create a safe passage for Indians stranded in Ukraine's conflict zones.
The Russian ambassador-designate to India, Denis Alipov, on Wednesday, said that his country is working to create a safe passage for the stranded Indian nationals in the Ukraine conflict zones.
In his first-ever press conference since reaching Delhi, he said, "We are working intensely on creating corridors and securing a safe passage for the Indian nationals stuck in those areas so that they can travel and be taken safely to areas... to Russian territories."
"We are in touch with the Indian authorities as regards the citizens of India currently in Kharkiv, Sumy, and in those areas in the north-east of Ukraine," he added.

He further said that they have received the Indian request for "emergency evacuation" of all those stuck in Russian territory and that his country is "now actively working on the ways and means to launch some operations and to provide humanitarian corridors, so that people have secure passage to safety in Russian territory."
The Russian ambassador-designate also thanked India for maintaining an unbiased and neutral stance throughout the conflict and assured Russia of its support in the evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine.
"We are strategic allies with India. We are grateful to India for its balanced position displayed at the UN. India understands the depth of this crisis," he said.
