The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has written a letter to the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) urging it to not impose restrictions stating that the Covid situation is under control.
Ahead of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting on April 20, the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has written a letter urging the body not to impose restrictions stating that the Covid-19 situation is under control in the national capital.
The steady rise in Covid cases in Delhi has caused concern for the government as well as common men. DDMA has called a meeting on April 20 to discuss the coronavirus situation in the national capital as Delhi recorded 501 new cases yesterday and the infection rate reached 7.72%.
In the meeting, DDMA will discuss the current state of Covid on the basis of which restrictions could be announced.
"If necessary, the DDMA should make it mandatory to wear a mask but the penalty should not be Rs 2,000 ," Goyal said, while maintaining that restrictions should not be imposed.
NO NEED FOR RESTRICTIONS
CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal and President Subhash Khandelwal said that according to many medical experts, the condition in Delhi is not too dangerous, as although the numbers are rising, the infection is not that serious since hospitalisation is still low.
"Now the marriages have also started and somehow the business is getting back on track. If there is any restriction, the business will suffer. Decisions (regarding restrictions) should not be taken only on the basis of case escalation and positivity rate, but the rate of hospitalisation and bed occupancy and effectiveness of the variant should also be considered," Goyal said.
