Facebook has tweaked its policies following an order from US President Joe Biden to investigate the origin of the virus.
Facebook will not remove posts claiming that COVID-19 was man-made or manufactured in a lab. This piece of information was being considered a conspiracy theory till sometime back and Facebook had also mentioned in its policies that it will restrict the limit of any COVID-related misinformation. However, Facebook has now tweaked its policies following an order from US President Joe Biden to investigate the origin of the virus. As per Politico, Facebook will neither restrict the reach of the post claiming that coronavirus was made in a lab nor restrict its limit. “In light of ongoing investigations into the origin of COVID-19 and in consultation with public health experts, we will no longer remove the claim that COVID-19 is man-made from our apps, We’re continuing to work with health experts to keep pace with the evolving nature of the pandemic and regularly update our policies as new facts and trends emerge,” a company spokesperson had told The Politco. The policies have been renewed and the theory that coronavirus was created in a lab is no longer fake news or conspiracy theory. Facebook made changes in its policies after the US government announced a fuller investigation into the origins of COVID-19. The investigation was ordered after an explosive report by Wall Street Journal stated that three scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology were hospitalised with COVID-19 like symptoms in 2019.More Related News
