Covid-19 takes heavy toll on Delhi sanitation workers, 49 dead since March

A total of 94 municipal corporation workers in Delhi have died in the second wave of Covid-19 while 49 of them are sanitation workers.
The devastating second wave of Covid cases in Delhi led to a heavy casualty among municipal corporation workers. Among the 94 civic sanitation workers who died in the second wave of Covid-19 in Delhi, 49 were sweepers. Since March, 94 municipal corporation workers have perished in the deadly second wave that claimed thousands of lives in Delhi and overburdened the capital’s health and civic infrastructure. There are about 50,000 sanitation workers working in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), who collect garbage and do other sanitation work. Some of them are permanent and some are temporary who have been working as sanitation workers even during the peak of the pandemic.More Related News
