COVID-19 on Vancouver Island: Health officials to provide live update

B.C. health officials will return to the podium Monday for an update on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The update will be streamed live on this page and on CTV News Vancouver Island at 11 a.m.
On Friday, B.C. added 584 new cases of COVID-19, including 82 cases found in the Vancouver Island region.
As of Friday, there were 4,982 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 603 active cases in the island region.
Nine more COVID-19 deaths were recorded Friday, including two deaths that occurred in the island region.
Since the pandemic began, 2,156 people have died of COVID-19 in B.C., including 91 deaths in the Island Health region.
There are currently two active outbreaks of COVID-19 on Vancouver Island.
On Friday, the B.C. Ministry of Health announced an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre in Saanich.
On Sunday, Island Health announced another outbreak at a long-term care home in Nanaimo, where two staff members and a resident have tested positive for the illness.
