COVID-19 in Quebec: What you need to know Wednesday

In the greater Quebec City region, seniors who live in retirement homes (RPA) will be able to receive a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine, starting today.
Seventeen mobile vaccination teams will visit the 153 RPAs in the region to vaccinate 16,000 residents again. The third dose of the vaccine will be given at the same time as the flu shot.
Currently, 99 per cent of RPA residents in Quebec are adequately vaccinated
Federal MPs will need to be fully vaccinated to sit in the House of Commons.
In a news release, House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota said MPs have until Nov. 22 to get fully vaccinated before resuming parliamentary work.
The requirement will apply to anyone entering the House of Commons, including MPs' staff, members of the Press Gallery, contractors and consultants.
Certain protective measures that had already been approved by the Board of Internal Economy, such as wearing a masks have also been extended until Jan. 31, 2022.
Public health is organizing a mass testing event at the Lacroix school today and Thursday after two schools in Saint-Georges, Que. reported COVID-19 outbreaks.
Classes and daycare services at the two schools will be cancelled those days to allow for staff, students and their families to get tested as the Beauce region continues to grapple with the highest rate of infection in the province.
The Beauce-Etchemin school board has also cancelled 51 in-person classes and made them virtual to prevent further transmission. There are 230 active cases across the school board.
In Thetford Mines, another town in the region, a debate between mayoral candidates will now be held virtually.
The local chamber of commerce, which is organizing the debate, made the decision to cancel the in-person event after learning that two of the candidates were not vaccinated against COVID-19.
Quebec Premier François Legault said the provincewide state of emergency order that gives the government special powers will be lifted once kids aged five to 11 are vaccinated.
