Nawab Malik reportedly told the court that the ED officials had forced doctors to discharge him because of which he was released from hospital on Thursday.
A Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Mumbai ordered a detailed medical checkup of Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik after he complained that he had been hurriedly discharged from the hospital.
Nawab Malik was brought to court for remand extension on Friday and after he arrived, journalists were not allowed inside the court room. However, it is learnt that Nawab Malik told the court that he complained against the officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) who allegedly were inside the JJ hospital where the Maharashtra minister had been lodged since Monday.
Nawab Malik is said to have told the court that the ED officials forced doctors to discharge him because of which he was released from hospital on Thursday. He is also said to have told the court that the jail officials had not taken him to hospital for 18 days until he felt so weak that he couldn't walk and had to be taken in a wheelchair earlier this week. Malik claimed that his creatinine levels had plunged and he needed medical treatment.

The court received two reports, one from the Superintendent of Mumbai Central Prison and the other from the Superintendent of JJ Hospital. Because of the reports and Nawab Malik's complaints about kidney disease, pain and weakness and that the hospital did not provide proper treatment to him, the court gave certain direction to the prison authority.
Nawab Malik is currently lodged at the Arthur Road prison. The special PMLA judge Rahul Rokde ordered that Malik be shifted to JJ Hospital for the purpose of detailed examination and investigation of his health by a Nephrologist from May 9 to 11 in the presence of one of the family doctors, Dr Saeeda Khan and Dr Sharad Kolke. The court also added that Nawab Malik should bear the expenses of family doctors.
