A country bomb was hurled after a clash broke out between two warring factions in Chennai's MGR Nagar on Friday night.
The two rival groups had been fighting over their respective political allegiance but the dispute reached a peak last night with over 15 members from each group getting into clashes.
Balaji, who was associated with the AIADMK, along with 15 of his friends, had shifted to the DMK, triggering enemity between Balaji's gang and another gang headed by a man named Raja. The rivalry started in 2018 after Balaji and 15 members changed parties.
Last night, around 11 pm, the fight escalated during which Balaji's brother, Bharath, hurled a country bomb. Two people sustained minor leg injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at KK Nagar Government Hospital.
Meanwhile, upon receiving the information, MGR Nagar police reached the spot and arrested Balaji, Janeswaran and Gopi, who belonged to one party. At least 30 others involved in the clash are currently absconding.
