Countries in West Africa on high alert after Ebola outbreak in Guinea

The World Health Organization has pledged support for Guinea after at least seven cases of Ebola were reported in the West African country. At least three of those with the illness have died.
Health officials in the southeastern N'Zerekore district said seven people who attended the funeral of a nurse tested positive for the disease and experienced symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting and bleeding. Three of them died following the February 1 funeral. It is unclear if the nurse, who worked at the local health center, died from Ebola.Venezuelan authorities are investigating opposition leader Maria Corina Machado for alleged treason after she expressed support for a US bipartisan bill that seeks to block Washington from doing business with any entity that has commercial ties with the government of Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro.
