Coroner recommends more resources for domestic violence victims after 2019 Montreal murder-suicide

On Tuesday, the Coroner's Office released Coroner Andrée Kronström's inquest report into the deaths of Dahia Khellaf, 42, and Adam, Aksil and Nabil Yssaad, which occurred in December 2019 in the Pointe-aux-Trembles borough of Montreal.

On Tuesday, the Coroner's Office released an inquest report into the deaths of Dahia Khellaf, 42, as well as Adam, Aksil and Nabil Yssaad.
Yssaad killed his wife, Kehllaf, and their two children, Adam and Aksil, in December 2019 in Montreal's Pointe-aux-Trembles neighbourhood.
Coroner Andrée Kronström is expected to comment on her findings Wednesday afternoon at a press conference.
In a press release sent out on Tuesday, the Coroner's Office states that "the coroner outlined certain risk factors at the origin of this violent incident, and was able to draw conclusions about what led to the familicide, as well as the suicide of the perpetrator, following 11 days of hearings and 60 testimonies, including from numerous organizations and ministries working to study and prevent domestic violence."
Commenting on the public hearings and the integration of an action plan and integrated government strategy, Kronström applauded "the efforts made in recent years to reduce the incidence of these deaths" while stating "there is still more to be done."
Her 19 recommendations are structured around the following six actions:
