Connecticut town refuses to fly 'antagonistic' 'thin blue line' flag to honor fallen trooper
Fox News
The Wethersfield town council in Connecticut sparked outrage after voting against allowing the "thin blue line" flag to fly for a beloved state trooper who was killed in the line of duty.
In a recording of the town council meeting, Democratic Councilmember Emily Zambrello is heard saying that the flag was "viewed as antagonistic." Sarah Rumpf-Whitten is a breaking news writer for Fox News Digital and Fox Business.
"That flag was either created or at least became prevalent in direct response to the Black Lives Matter protests," Zambrello said. "It’s viewed as antagonistic even if you don’t see it that way and I don’t think that’s a good flag to fly, especially not without further discussion." She is a native of Massachusetts and is based in Orlando, Florida.
In an interview, the Mayor of Wethersfield, Ken Lesser, suggested that the flag had racist ties. Story tips and ideas can be sent to sarah.rumpf@fox.com and on X: @s_rumpfwhitten.
