Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on January 13, 2025, asserted that caste census will be carried out in Delhi if the Congress is voted to power in the upcoming Assembly election in the National Capital.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday (January 13, 2025) asserted that a caste census will be carried out in Delhi if the Congress is voted to power in the National Capital.
Addressing a his first public meeting for Delhi polls in Seelampur, North East Delhi, Mr. Gandhi said, “People should ask (former Delhi Chief Miister Arvind) Kejriwal whether he wants reservation for the backward classes and his stance on carrying out a caste census.”
He further said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor was following “Modi’s strategy of propaganda and false promises” despite rising pollution, corruption and inflation in the National Capital.
“We want equality, ‘bhaagidaari’ for poor and minorities,” said Mr. Gandhi promising caste census and raising reservation cap if the Congress comes to power.
Attacking the AAP chief, the Congress leader said that Mr. Kejriwal came to power promising a corruption-free and clean Delhi but has not managed to end corruption nor develop the city.
“(Prime Minister Narendra) Modi and Kejriwal are the same they both make false promises. They have the same strategy,” he added.
“Kejriwal spread clean Delhi propaganda, promised to turn it into Paris and eradicate corruption, but both pollution and inflation are on the rise,” said Mr. Gandhi.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
