Congress MLA narrowly escapes firing along Assam-Nagaland border amid dispute

Assam Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi narrowly escaped an attack along the Assam-Nagaland border in Jorhat district.

An Assam Congress legislator and his security team narrowly escaped an attack by armed men who opened fire at the group near the Assam-Nagaland border in Jorhat district. - ’ @himantabiswa The incident took place at Disai Valley Reserve Forest area along the Assam-Nagaland border on Thursday when Congress MLA of Mariani assembly constituency Rupjyoti Kurmi and a team of security personnel, local villagers visited the area to take stock of the situation arising out of the border dispute in the area. The disputed area falls between the Bongaon and Sonapur villages in Disai Valley Reserve Forest under Mariani police station of Jorhat district and Changki village under Mangkolemba circle of Mokokchung district of Nagaland.
