Two proposals, “one-family-one-ticket and the fixing of tenure for party office bearers,” are expected to be approved in the Congress Working Committee meeting at the Nav Sankalp Shivir in Udaipur today.
As the countdown for the crucial Congress Working Committee (CWC) at the Nav Sankalp Shivir starts, sources say two proposals that will be adopted in the Udaipur declaration are, “one-family-one-ticket” and second is the “fixing of tenure for each post.”
The CWC meeting will take place to discuss the proposals that have come from various committees and then to finalise a resolution, dubbed the Udaipur Declaration.
A CWC member said, “This resolution will be an actionable plan and not just a manifesto for the 2024 polls. This will be a time-bound plan wherein the decision taken by CWC mentioned in the Udaipur Declaration will be implemented in a time-bound manner.”
The “one family, one ticket” proposal is the one on which there appears to be complete unanimity. According to sources, this proposal will get a green signal from CWC and will be part of the Udaipur Declaration.
Congress General Secretary, Ajay Maken, on May 13, said, “There’s almost complete unanimity among panel members on the proposal to ensure that party leaders don’t give tickets to their kin or relatives without any work in the party. At least 5 years of prior work in the party is required to get a ticket for the second family member of a leader seeking another ticket.”
Meanwhile, another proposal that will get the go-ahead in CWC is the fixing of tenures of party office bearers.
